Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy
انجمن شاهنشاهی فلسفه ایران NGO Founded 1974 · Dissolved 1979
The Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy was founded in September 1974 by Seyyed Hossein Nasr at the request of Empress Farah Pahlavi. It was the first academic institution founded on the principles of the Traditionalist School of philosophy. The academy aimed to promote Iranian intellectual and philosophical heritage from both Islamic and pre-Islamic eras and to foster comparative study of Eastern and Western philosophical traditions. After the 1979 revolution, it was reorganised and renamed the Iranian Research Institute of Philosophy (later Institute for Research in Philosophy).
