The Komala Toilers Party (Zehmetkêshan, meaning 'toilers' or 'labourers' in Kurdish) is the third major faction to emerge from the historic Komala organisation, distinct from both the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan led by Abdullah Mohtadi and the Communist Party of Iran-Komala faction led by Ibrahim Alizadeh. It represents a current that broke away during the post-2000 reorganisation of the Kurdish left, maintaining a Marxist orientation while charting an independent course from both of the larger Komala factions. Like the other Komala branches, it operates in exile from Iraqi Kurdistan and advocates Kurdish self-determination within a federal, democratic Iran.
