Iran's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (ICT) oversees telecommunications, postal services, and internet infrastructure. The ministry has played a central role in internet censorship and filtering, particularly after the 2009 presidential election. Under Reza Taghipour (2009–2012), the ministry cut mobile and SMS services before the election and blocked social networks during the Green Movement protests.
