Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics

Iran's Defense Ministry (Vezarat-e Defa va Poshtibani-ye Niruhaye Mosallah) manages defense procurement, arms production, and logistics for Iran's armed forces. It does not command operational forces; that function resides with the General Staff and IRGC command. Key ministers: Ali Shamkhani (1997–2005), Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar (2005–2009), Ahmad Vahidi (2009–2013), Hossein Dehghan (2013–2017), Amir Hatami (2017–2021), Mohammad Reza Ashtiani (2021–2024), Aziz Nasirzadeh (2024–present).
