Ministry of Science, Research and Technology

Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology oversees non-medical higher education, research policy, and technology development. It supervises public universities and regulates academic appointments. Under Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi (2005–2009), the ministry purged reformist professors and expelled politically active students. Under Minister Kamran Daneshjoo (2009–2013), the ministry implemented controversial policies including preferential university admissions for Basij members and purges of reformist faculty.
