MOIS Department 312

Department 312 is a directorate within Iran's Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS/VAJA) responsible for internal security and the running of MOIS external operations and agents in Europe. The unit gained international attention when senior officer Assadollah Assadi was identified as the operational planner of the 2018 Villepinte bomb plot against the NCRI/MEK rally in Paris — the first time an Iranian diplomat-intelligence officer was convicted in Europe for directing a terrorist attack on European soil. The directorate is believed to use Iranian diplomatic missions as cover for its officers abroad.
