The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Sha'abi) is an Iraqi state-sponsored umbrella organisation of predominantly Shia paramilitary groups, many of which receive training, funding, and direction from Iran's IRGC Quds Force. Its deputy commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was killed alongside Qasem Soleimani in the January 2020 US drone strike at Baghdad International Airport. Key constituent militias include Kata'ib Hezbollah.
