Abdullah Ghaderi-Azar

Abdullah Ghaderi-Azar was a senior aide and representative of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI). He accompanied PDKI leader Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou to Vienna in July 1989 for what both men believed were secret peace negotiations with Iranian government envoys. On 13 July 1989, he was shot dead alongside Ghassemlou and Kurdish mediator Fadel Rasoul in the Ghassemlou assassination. Austrian authorities identified the Iranian intelligence delegation present at the meeting but controversially permitted the suspects to leave Austria without arrest.
