Narges Mohammadi is an Iranian human rights activist and the vice-president of the Defenders of Human Rights Center, founded by Shirin Ebadi. She has been arrested and imprisoned multiple times by the Islamic Republic for her activism, particularly her campaigns against the death penalty and mandatory hijab.

She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2023 for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her efforts to promote human rights and freedom for all. She received the prize while imprisoned in Evin Prison.

During the 2025–2026 protests, she characterized Reza Pahlavi's supporters as "the opposition against opposition," suggesting that his polarizing role alienated other opposition factions.
