Shapour Bakhtiar

Appointed as Iran's last Prime Minister by Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi in January 1979 in a last-ditch effort to quell the revolution. A member of the National Front, his acceptance of the position led to his expulsion from the party. He fled to France after the revolution and was assassinated by Iranian government agents in his home near Paris on 6 August 1991.
