Asr-e Azadegan (عصر آزادگان, 'Age of the Free People') was the fourth and final iteration of Mashallah Shamsolvaezin's serial newspaper chain, assembling staff from all three predecessors. Akbar Ganji wrote landmark investigative columns on the chain murders of 1998 in its pages. Closed in the April 2000 crackdown. It was succeeded by the weekly Gunagoun under editor Fatemeh Farahmandpour — which the Press Court explicitly closed for 'closely resembling Jame'eh, Tous, Neshat, and Asr-e Azadegan.'
