Hussainiyyeh Ershad is a religious and cultural institution in Tehran co-founded by Morteza Motahhari. It became famous in the 1960s and 1970s as a centre for modernist Islamic lectures, notably by Ali Shariati, whose talks attracted large audiences and contributed to the intellectual groundwork of the Islamic Revolution. It was closed by the Shah's government in 1973 but resumed activity after the revolution.
