The Islamic Revolutionary Council was a governing body established by Ruhollah Khomeini in January 1979 to oversee the transition of power during the Iranian Revolution. Its members included Mehdi Bazargan, Yadollah Sahabi, Ali Khamenei, Abolhassan Banisadr, and others. It operated in parallel with Bazargan's provisional government and was dissolved in 1980 after the first Majlis was elected.
