Zan

Zan (زن, 'Woman') was a reformist daily founded by Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani, daughter of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and a reformist MP. Closed by Islamic Revolutionary Court in April 1999 for publishing a cartoon satirising blood money laws (which valued a woman's life at half a man's), and for reprinting a New Year's greeting from Empress Farah Pahlavi. Demonstrated that even publications with powerful family connections were not immune.
