Pharmacologist and political activist. Organized Freedom Movement of Iran activities in the United States during exile. Served as foreign minister in Bazargan's provisional government (1979). Second secretary-general of the Freedom Movement (1995–2017). Repeatedly arrested and imprisoned by the Islamic Republic. Participated in the 1979 revolution. Died 27 August 2017.
