Gholam-Hossein Nozari

Gholam-Hossein Nozari is an Iranian petroleum engineer and politician who served as Minister of Petroleum from 2007 to 2009 under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. A career veteran of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), he was appointed managing director of NIOC in March 2006 before succeeding Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh as oil minister in August 2007. He oversaw the Ministry of Petroleum during a period of volatile oil prices. In 2012 he was nominated as Secretary General of OPEC.
