Seyyed Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh is an Iranian engineer who served as Minister of Petroleum from 2005 to 2007 under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Initially appointed as acting minister because the Islamic Consultative Assembly rejected three successive presidential nominees for the post, Ahmadinejad was compelled to confirm Vaziri Hamaneh as permanent minister in early 2006. He had previously served as deputy oil minister. He was removed in August 2007 and replaced by Gholam-Hossein Nozari, after which he became an adviser to the president on oil and gas affairs. He oversaw the Ministry of Petroleum during a period of rising global oil prices.
