Gholamreza Soleimani

Gholamreza Soleimani served as commander of the Basij Resistance Force, the paramilitary volunteer militia subordinate to the IRGC. Under his command, Basij forces played a central role in the violent suppression of the 2025–2026 protests, using live ammunition and other lethal force against civilian demonstrators. He was killed on 17 March 2026 in an Israeli airstrike during the assassination of Ali Larijani, along with other senior officials.
