Kazem Rajavi
کاظم رجویHuman rights advocate; Iran's first post-revolution ambassador to UN in Geneva
Kazem Rajavi was a professor of political science at the University of Geneva and elder brother of Massoud Rajavi. He played a crucial role in saving Massoud's life by lobbying internationally to commute his death sentence under the Shah. After the 1979 revolution, he briefly served as Iran's ambassador to the UN in Geneva before breaking with the regime. He became a leading human rights advocate, documenting abuses by the Islamic Republic. On 24 April 1990, he was assassinated near his home in Coppet, Switzerland by Iranian intelligence agents who had entered the country on diplomatic passports. Ali Fallahian was charged by a Swiss court with masterminding the operation.
