Mohammad-Javad Bahonar

Mohammad-Javad Bahonar was a cleric and co-founder of the Islamic Republican Party. He was elected to the Assembly of Experts for the Constitution in 1979, representing Kerman Province with over 80% of the vote. He served briefly as prime minister under President Mohammad-Ali Rajai in 1981. He and Rajai were assassinated in a bombing at the prime minister's office on 30 August 1981, an attack attributed to the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK). He had previously served as Minister of Education.
