Parvaneh Eskandari Forouhar was a political activist and co-leader of the Nation of Iran Party alongside her husband Dariush Forouhar. Active in Iranian politics since the 1950s, she was a fierce advocate for women's rights and democratic governance. On the night of 22 November 1998, Ministry of Intelligence agents entered the Forouhar home and murdered both husband and wife — she was stabbed 25 times. Their double assassination was one of the most shocking acts of the chain murders and galvanised the reformist press and civil society into demanding accountability from the intelligence services.
