Shamseddin Hosseini is an Iranian economist and politician who served as Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance from 2008 to 2013 under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He managed Iran's economy during the period of harshest international sanctions, which severely impacted the banking sector and caused the rial to collapse.

Hosseini holds a PhD in economics from Islamic Azad University and previously taught at several Iranian universities. Before his ministerial appointment, he served as deputy minister of social welfare and subsidies and as director general for economic studies at the Ministry of Commerce.

He faced impeachment proceedings in the Islamic Consultative Assembly over lax banking supervision related to a major embezzlement scandal, but survived the vote after parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani intervened on the government's behalf.
