The United Kingdom designated Ali Ansari under the Iran Sanctions Regulations (2023) for his alleged role in financially enabling the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The sanctions included an asset freeze, travel ban, and director disqualification. Minister Hamish Falconer described Ansari as a 'corrupt Iranian banker and businessman.' This brought the UK's total Iran-related designations to over 500 individuals and entities. The designation came one week after the Central Bank of Iran dissolved Ayandeh Bank, which Ansari had founded.
