Radwan Force (Hezbollah)

The Radwan Force is Hezbollah's elite special operations unit, estimated at 2,500 fighters. Founded in 2006 as the Intervention Unit with assistance from the IRGC Quds Force, it was renamed in April 2008 after the operational alias of Imad Mughniyeh ("Hajj Radwan") following his assassination. The unit specializes in cross-border raids, infiltration, anti-tank warfare, and commando operations. It gained extensive combat experience during the Syrian civil war. Ibrahim Aqil commanded the force until his killing in an Israeli airstrike in September 2024.
