Hezbollah
حزباللهHezbollah (Party of God) is a Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group formally established in 1982 during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. Its organizational roots trace to the Shia military infrastructure built in Lebanon during the 1970s by Mostafa Chamran and Musa al-Sadr through the Amal Movement. The formal founding was actively supervised by Ali Akbar Mohtashamipur, Iran's ambassador to Syria, who worked within the IRGC framework to merge existing radical Shia factions — including the Islamic Amal splinter, the Lebanese Dawa Party, and other groups — into a unified organization. It is the most powerful of Iran's regional proxies and receives extensive financial, military, and logistical support from the IRGC Quds Force. It operates as both a political party in Lebanese parliament and a military force with an arsenal that surpasses the Lebanese Armed Forces.
