Abdolali Bazargan

Deputy leader of Freedom Movement of Iran; Islamic thinker; reformist politician

Abdolali Bazargan is an Iranian liberal politician, writer, and Islamic intellectual, and the son of Mehdi Bazargan, Iran's first post-revolution prime minister. He joined the National Front of Iran in 1961 before moving to his father's Freedom Movement of Iran in 1977, where he currently serves as deputy leader. He co-authored the January 2010 Green Movement manifesto with Abdolkarim Soroush, Mohsen Kadivar, Akbar Ganji, and Ataollah Mohajerani, calling for the resignation of President Ahmadinejad and free elections under independent supervision.
