Azar Mansouri
آذر منصوریChair of the Reform Front of Iran (July 2023–present); secretary-general of the Union of Islamic Iran People Party
Azar Mansouri is an Iranian reformist politician and women's rights activist, best known as the first woman to chair a major Iranian political coalition. In July 2023 she succeeded Behzad Nabavi as chair of the Reform Front of Iran, the main umbrella coalition of Iran's reformist political camp.
She is a founding member and secretary-general of the Union of Islamic Iran People Party, and a senior member of the Islamic Iran Participation Front. A pioneer of Iranian civil society organizing, she was a leading campaigner for the One Million Signatures initiative for women's rights. She was disqualified from the 2008 parliamentary election by the Guardian Council and arrested following the disputed 2009 presidential election that triggered the Green Movement.
On 8 February 2026, Iranian authorities arrested Mansouri along with two other reformist figures — Ebrahim Asgharzadeh and Mohsen Aminzadeh — on charges of 'targeting national unity, taking a stance against the constitution, coordination with enemy propaganda, promoting surrender, diverting political groups and creating secret subversive mechanisms.' She was released days later, though the charges remained pending.
