Nazila Fathi is an Iranian journalist who served as Tehran correspondent and bureau chief for the New York Times from the late 1990s through 2009. She covered the presidential election of 2009 and the subsequent Green Movement protests, providing some of the most detailed on-the-ground reporting from inside Iran during the uprising. Following threats to her safety as the crackdown intensified, Fathi was forced to flee Iran in 2009.

Since leaving Iran, Fathi has continued to write about Iranian affairs from exile and has taught journalism and contributed to policy discussions on Iran.
