The Worker-communist Party of Iran — Hekmatist (WPI-H) is a splinter party that emerged following a leadership dispute after the death of Mansoor Hekmat in 2002. The faction led by Koorosh Modarresi formally split from the Worker-communist Party of Iran in 2004, claiming to be the legitimate heir to Hekmat's ideological legacy and accusing the Hamid Taqvaee-led WPI of deviating from Hekmat's line. The party operates in exile and publishes theoretical works positioning itself as the orthodox current of worker-communism. The split reflects personal and political disagreements over party direction following Hekmat's death rather than fundamental ideological divergence.
