Worker-communist Party of Iran
حزب کمونیست کارگری ایرانThe Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) was founded in 1991 by Mansoor Hekmat and other members who split from the Communist Party of Iran. The party rejects both the Soviet model and Third World nationalism, advocating instead for a form of Marxism centred on working-class self-emancipation and secularism. Its primary slogans are 'Liberty, Equality, Workers' Rule' and 'For a Socialist Republic.' Hekmat led the party until his death in 2002, after which a leadership dispute split the WPI into two factions: one under Hamid Taqvaee and another under Koorosh Modarresi, who founded a separate Worker-communist Party (Hekmatist). The WPI has been active in international solidarity campaigns, particularly around women's rights, and opposed the Islamic Republic from exile.
