کورش مدرسیFounder of the Worker-communist Party of Iran — Hekmatist; Marxist politician
Koorosh Modarresi is an Iranian Marxist politician and one of the leading figures in the Worker-communist tradition following the death of its founder Mansoor Hekmat in 2002. After Hekmat's death, a factional dispute erupted within the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) over leadership and political direction. Modarresi led a faction that split from the WPI in 2004 to form the Hekmatist Party (formally the Worker-communist Party of Iran — Hekmatist), claiming to uphold Hekmat's legacy more faithfully. The party is based in exile and focuses on socialist politics and secularism in opposition to the Islamic Republic. Modarresi remains active as a political commentator on Iranian leftist and labour politics.
