Iran International is a Persian-language television news network launched in 2017, headquartered in London. Founded by Volant Media, the channel quickly became one of the most-watched Persian-language outlets outside Iran, covering Iranian politics, human rights, and diaspora affairs. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly accused the channel of ties to Saudi Arabia and the UK, and Iran's IRGC designated it a terrorist organisation. In 2023 the Metropolitan Police warned two Iran International journalists of credible assassination threats from Iranian intelligence, prompting the channel to temporarily relocate operations. In September 2023 Iran International, together with Semafor, published leaked Iranian Foreign Ministry emails that exposed the Iran Experts Initiative, a covert influence operation targeting Western policy circles.
