The IRGC Ground Forces Command is the largest branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps by personnel, responsible for conventional ground operations, border security, and internal defence. It controls numerous infantry and armoured divisions deployed across Iran's provinces and along contested borders. Mohammad Pakpour commanded the IRGC Ground Forces from 2014 to 2025 before his appointment as IRGC Commander-in-Chief. The Ground Forces played a major role in operations during the Iran–Iraq War, Kurdish insurgency suppression, and have maintained a forward presence along the western and northwestern borders. During the 2019 Mahabad and border crackdowns it acted as a primary enforcement arm.
