Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei

Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei is a jurist member of the Guardian Council who served as the Council's public face as spokesman for many years before Hadi Tahan Nazif took on that role. Appointed by Secretary Ahmad Jannati to the Central Committee for Election Supervision, he was the primary official voice defending the Council's candidate disqualifications. Before the 2020 parliamentary election, he warned that 'insults or inflammatory remarks towards the Supreme Leader' would be considered during candidate vetting. He was sanctioned by the US Treasury in February 2020.
