Nematollah Nassiri was the longest-serving director of SAVAK, Iran's secret police, holding the position from 1965 to 1978 under Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. During his tenure, SAVAK became notorious for the systematic torture and imprisonment of political dissidents, and for its role in suppressing all forms of organised opposition to the Shah's regime. He was a key pillar of Pahlavi security architecture.

Nassiri was removed from his position in 1978 as the Shah attempted to distance himself from SAVAK's repressive reputation in the face of the growing revolutionary movement. He was subsequently appointed ambassador to Pakistan.

After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Nassiri was among the first senior Pahlavi officials to be arrested. He was tried and executed on 15–16 February 1979 — among the very first victims of the post-revolution executions of 1979 — by Sadegh Khalkhali's revolutionary court, alongside three other senior military officials.
