Abdol-Rahman Banihashemi is an Iranian operative of the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) who led the attack team responsible for the Mykonos restaurant assassination on 17 September 1992 in Berlin. Trained in Lebanon, Banihashemi was put in charge of the Mykonos operation by Intelligence Minister Ali Fallahian.
Banihashemi served as one of the two gunmen alongside Abbas Rhayel, reportedly opening fire on the Kurdish leaders with the words "You sons of whores" in Persian. The attack killed PDKI Secretary-General Sadegh Sharafkandi and three associates.
Unlike Kazem Darabi and Abbas Rhayel, Banihashemi successfully escaped Germany after the attack. An outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Berlin court remains in effect, and he is believed to be residing in Iran.
